Buzz Goss | Principal Architect & Developer

Buzz Goss, President at Goss Dennison Design.
Executive Profile: The Architect-Developer Framework

Buzz Goss is a Partner at Goss Dennison Design, bringing more than three decades of pioneering urban architecture, master planning, and real-world real estate development experience to the firm. Widely recognized for his transformative impact on downtown footprints across the Southeast, Buzz operates at the unique intersection of design innovation and development execution.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Architecture, his career is defined by a commitment to dense urban infill, high-density residential housing, and complex historic adaptive reuse projects that balance distinct architectural character with long-term commercial performance.

Landmark Projects & Regional Footprint

Throughout his distinguished career, Buzz has served as the visionary force behind some of the region’s most high-profile architectural and development landmarks:

The Burwell Building & Tennessee Theatre (Knoxville, TN): Executed the comprehensive historic restoration and adaptive design framework for this iconic downtown landmark, preserving its opulent 1920s architecture while modernizing the facility into a world-class performing arts venue.

• The Exchange Lofts Building (Downtown Nashville, TN): Managed complex structural and adaptive planning to deliver landmark commercial architecture within Nashville’s urban core.

• Marble Alley Lofts (Knoxville, TN): Acted as the pioneering developer for downtown Knoxville’s first major, ground-up new-construction development in over a decades. This 248-unit multi-family community successfully bridged the spatial gap between Market Square and the Old City, establishing the modern blueprint for urban infill in the region.

• Vintage Cal (Knoxville, TN): Spearheaded the architectural and developmental vision for this massive 167-unit mixed-use urban infill neighborhood at Union AV and State ST, maximizing downtown density and multi-family accessibility.

• The Pollard Building (Knoxville, TN): Led the $10 million structural transformation and adaptive conversion of a 1955 church education building on Broadway into a high-performing 50-unit residential and commercial loft community.

Beyond the Drafting Table

In addition to his deep-rooted architectural and real estate legacy, Buzz is actively involved in regional financial leadership, serving on the Board of Directors for UBank, where he provides strategic oversight to support business and real estate lending across the Southeast. He is also a certified U.S. Coast Guard captain who has sailed extensive blue-water passages across the Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. This unique combination of global maritime perspective and high-level banking oversight feeds directly into his design philosophy—demanding absolute structural discipline, environmental resilience, and strict financial responsibility in every project Goss Dennison Design undertakes.
